ISO 45001:2018 is a new International Standard for Occupational Health & Safety providing a framework for managing the prevention of death, work-related injury and ill-health; with the intended outcome of improving and providing a safe and healthy workplace for workers and persons under an organisation’s control.
ISO 45001:2018 places much more responsibility on top level management to demonstrate leadership, commitment and promotion of a positive Occupational, Health & Safety culture within the workplace. ISO 45001:2018 has been designed to provide for integration and compatibility between other Management Systems. With the aim of taking into consideration the context and operations of the organisation, participation of both leadership and workers, this standard will assist organisations to take a comprehensive approach to planning and support in all areas of workplace health, safety and risks.
What is the time frame for implementation?
ISO 45001:2018 was formalised in March 2018 with a three year migration period.
ISO 45001:2018 will replace OHSAS 18001:2007 in March 2021
